About Us

How we got started

We started growing specialty cut flowers in 2017, a couple of years after we’d arrived in Albuquerque (from the Pac NW and California). Farming was not exactly in the plans, but that changed when we moved to the South Valley. We had a couple of acres to imagine a long-held dream of being independent, of working with the land, of building our own small family farm; we also came into the project full of ideas about regeneration, carbon capture, water conservation, and organic growing practices. We discovered - and continue to learn about the importance of tending to the soil and working within our natural cycles.

Community Connections and Education

In addition to the retail and wholesale arms of the farm, we are finally moving toward something we’ve wanted to do for years: bringing people here to the farm, sharing the space through education, including field trips; classes for kids and grown-ups; and other events - including small elopement weddings. Coming in 2025: sensory art classes; youth field trips; a farm club for homeschoolers; pressed flower classes and more…. If you’d like more information or would like to be contacted when our event schedule is available, send us a note here or email us at: farmers@livingrootsfarmabq.com

A big part of connecting with our community is helping our younger generations learn more about our natural world - how to grow with it, tend to it and have it be an important part of their lives.

Nobody can discover the world for somebody else. Only when we discover it for ourselves does it become common ground and a common bond and we cease to be alone.” - Wendell Berry

“If we want children to flourish, to become truly empowered, then let us allow them to love the earth before we ask them to save it.” - D. Sobel
